Raya and Ramadan Supplement Ads (2027)
Hari Raya 2027 falls on 10-11 March and Ramadan opens 8 February: how Malaysian supplement brands write for sahur, iftar, honest claims and the hamper.
Updated January 2027 · Xanny Lee, CEO
Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2027 is published for Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 March, with Awal Ramadan 1448 on Monday 8 February 2027, so Malaysian supplement demand peaks inside the fasting month rather than on Raya morning. Build the creative around the compressed eating window: a drink, milk or powder can honestly be shown at sahur or iftar, and the six to eight glasses of plain water a day the Ministry of Health recommends for the general population (Frontiers in Public Health, 2024) now have to be drunk between sunset and dawn. The second mechanic is the hamper, which sells on pre-order weeks ahead, so name a delivery cut-off in the ad, keep every item in the box a MAL-registered product, and dose it for a real recipient instead of for the ribbon. Have content indexed by late January 2027, and treat both dates as published rather than certain, because the Islamic calendar is confirmed by moon-sighting.
A supplement brand gets one season a year where the customer changes their daily routine for thirty days and then buys gifts for everyone they know. That is Ramadan into Hari Raya. Aidilfitri 2027 is published for Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 March, and the fasting month opens on Monday 8 February 2027, a public holiday in Johor and Kedah (PublicHolidays.com.my, 2027). The selling happens in between. Sahur and iftar reset when people eat and drink, the hamper has to be ordered and shipped before anyone leaves for the kampung, and every line of copy about fasting and the body has to survive a rulebook stricter than the one almost any other category works under.
Two gift windows back to back, then the month that does the selling
Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2027 falls on Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 March. The month that pays for it opens earlier: Awal Ramadan 1448 is published for Monday 8 February 2027, a public holiday in Johor and Kedah (PublicHolidays.com.my, 2027). Both are confirmed by moon-sighting, so every date here is the published one rather than a fixed one. Why those dates move, and how to hold a media plan steady while they do, is the job of our Ramadan ad playbook. This page picks up after that and stays on the category. One quirk of this cycle belongs in the calendar now. Chinese New Year 2027 falls on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 February, and because the second day lands on a Sunday, Monday 8 February is taken nationally as a holiday in lieu. Kedah is the one state that does not take it, because for Kedah that Monday is Awal Ramadan (PublicHolidays.com.my, 2027). The reunion dinner and the first sahur therefore sit in the same working week. For a brand selling into both communities that is not a clash so much as a production problem: two sets of creative, two languages, two occasions, and no gap between them in which to shoot or clear anything. Plan them as one production and two dressings, and finish both before either goes live. For supplements the peak then sits inside Ramadan rather than on Raya morning, and two clocks push it there. The reason to buy is the month itself, a changed eating pattern repeated for about thirty days, and that reason expires the moment the fasting stops. The gift box runs on its own clock: it has to be ordered, packed and delivered while the recipient is still at home, which puts the hamper decision in February. By the morning of 10 March the shopping is finished and a large part of the country is on the road. So the content deadline is late January 2027. Reading runs ahead of buying in this season, so a page about fasting routines or Raya gifting has to be indexed before the month opens rather than while it is under way. And the brief is a harder one than a sale day's. A mega-sale asks for a single asset that has to work for forty-eight hours. Ramadan asks for something a household is still willing to watch on day twenty, in a feed where every other advertiser has arrived at once. Budget the shoot for a rotation rather than for a hero.
Write to the eating window, and source every claim about the body
Ramadan compresses three eating occasions into two and moves both out of daylight. Sahur is eaten before dawn, iftar at sunset, and everything a person eats or drinks fits between them. That is the creative constraint, and it is a fact about the practice rather than a claim about the body. Keep the two apart in every line you write, because the second is where supplement advertising gets into trouble. Hydration is the safest place to start, because Malaysia publishes a number. The Ministry of Health recommends six to eight glasses of plain water a day for the general population (Frontiers in Public Health, 2024). Nothing about the fasting month lowers that. It removes the daylight hours in which most of it is normally drunk, so the same intake has to fit between iftar and sahur. Measured intake tends to fall short. A cross-sectional study of 380 participants across five Indonesian universities recorded a median total water and beverage intake of 1,670 ml a day during Ramadan, split across iftar (474 ml), the hours after it (574 ml) and sahur (560 ml), below the level the authors treated as recommended (Frontiers in Nutrition, 2022). That is an Indonesian sample, not a Malaysian measurement, so read it as directional. What it hands a drink brand is a structure rather than a statistic. The common pattern was two glasses at iftar, four through the night and two at sahur; the people who drank four, two and two instead were significantly likelier to reach the recommendation. Three occasions to be present at, and one of them worth arguing about. Then the line not to cross. A meta-analysis pooling 70 publications, 90 comparison groups and 2,947 participants found weight and body composition back at or near their pre-Ramadan levels within 2 to 5 weeks of the month ending (Nutrients, 2019). Creative that promises a lasting body change promises something the literature contradicts, and slimming is the segment where that temptation is strongest. Route the medical questions out of the ad. The National Health and Morbidity Survey 2023 put weighted prevalence among Malaysian adults at 15.6% for diabetes, 29.2% for hypertension and 33.3% for hypercholesterolaemia (Scientific Reports, 2025), and a nationwide multicentre study of 310 Malaysian primary-care patients with diabetes who attempted the fast found 18.4% running into an adverse outcome while fasting, most often hypoglycaemia at 13.5% (Primary Care Diabetes, 2025). A meaningful share of the people reading your ad fast with a condition. The answer in the copy is a doctor or a pharmacist, never the product. Our guide to supplement Facebook ads in Malaysia carries the NPRA claim tiers, the MAL registration and the advertising approval gate in full.
The formats that can sit at a sahur table
Start with an honest limit. Of the 21 Malaysian supplement creatives collected for this category, none is a Ramadan or Raya ad (AdPlay.ai archive, 2026). Occasion does not transfer. Product form and proof structure do. The format split across those 21 runs 11 static, 7 video and 3 dynamic (AdPlay.ai archive, 2026), and the fasting month narrows which products can honestly appear in it. A drink, milk, powder or shot can sit on a table before dawn or beside a plate of dates at sunset and the picture is true. BBLAB's collagen drink, GrandSure-Gold's joint milk, Shiyoni's collagen and bird's nest drink, Uni-Nature's Bentong turmeric shot and Elderberry Multigrain's growth tin all survive that scene. A capsule at the same table is a prop. Put the routine in frame instead: the strip that goes in the bag before terawih, the organiser beside an alarm set for sahur. Then drop the angle this category leans on hardest. Before-and-after is the wrong instrument for thirty days, and the reason sits in the evidence above: a fasting body changes on its own, then changes back. A result photographed inside the month credits the product with something the fast may have done, and the customer watches it undo itself by April. What holds is proof that needs no visible change. One is the ingredient explainer, which teaches in the long quiet scroll after terawih instead of promising anything: Ruijia argues collagen next to calcium, 360activ explains what a peptide is for. The other is the borrowed voice, which earns more here than at any point in the year, because a hamper buyer vouches for the product to somebody else. A pharmacist on camera, as Mizino runs it, or a family member narrating for the person who took it, carries weight no before shot has to supply. Read those as representative angles rather than as ads running this morning. Language decides more than format, and the archive splits by segment rather than by brand: collagen and joint health run mostly in Chinese, slimming and women's health mostly in Malay, the premium ingredient names in English (AdPlay.ai archive, 2026). For a Ramadan campaign the Malay asset is load-bearing, and the two segments it already carries are the two this month exposes most: slimming for the reversion evidence, women's health for claim wording. Budget original Malay copywriting and a Malay-reading reviewer, not a translation over the same pictures. Then brief for length. Two moments, the table before dawn and the one at sunset, two rooms, one product, enough coverage from one shoot to fill a month. Hold the strongest testimonial for the last third, when the hamper decision is made and the routine is already habit.
The Raya hamper: what goes in the box, and who opens it
The hamper is the one mechanic that lifts a supplement out of the buyer's own routine and puts it in somebody else's kitchen. That changes almost everything about the ad. The person reading the creative is not the person swallowing the product, the box is usually sent rather than carried, and the decision gets made weeks before it lands. Start with what goes in it. Every item has to be a registered product in its own right. Assembling a gift basket does not launder an unregistered import, and a MAL number belongs on each pack inside the box, not on the cellophane. If an item could not stand on its own in an ad, it cannot stand in the hamper either. Then decide whether the box is a gesture or a course, and say which in the ad. A hamper holding three sachets of six different things is decoration. It photographs beautifully and runs out on day four. A hamper built as a course puts one product at a real duration, a full month of it, with the smaller items dressing the basket around it. Tell the buyer plainly how long the box lasts. Write for the recipient as well as the buyer. Raya hampers are usually opened by someone older than the person who ordered them, and the prevalence figures above say a fair share of them are fasting with a condition. Put the dosing instruction, the leaflet and the MAL number where they can be read without a phone, in the language the recipient reads rather than the one the buyer shopped in, and add a line telling them to ask a doctor or pharmacist before starting anything new while fasting. Delivery is what ruins hampers. Publish a cut-off date and put it in the creative, because the audience empties out of the cities in the days before 10 March 2027 and a box arriving at a locked house becomes a refund. Ask for the recipient's phone number at checkout, not only the address. State plainly whether you ship to Sabah and Sarawak and how many days that takes. Check the contents against a hot van in March: a bird's nest or collagen drink travels differently from a sealed tin of powder. Run the corporate line as a separate campaign. The biggest hamper orders come from companies buying for staff and clients, placed by someone who needs an invoice, a multi-address delivery list and one human to call. That is a form or a WhatsApp thread, not a shop button, and it looks nothing like the ad selling a single box.
The run, from November 2026 to 11 March 2027
Start in November 2026, and start with words rather than pictures. The claim set is what everything else waits on, and clearance for it is the one item whose timing you do not control, so lock the wording first and brief the assets against it. Any creative that would need new claim wording in February is a creative you are not running this season. December and early January are for building. Shoot the sahur and iftar assets while there is still time to reshoot them. Build the hamper before you photograph it, because a mock-up you cannot actually pack is a promise waiting to break, and confirm stock depth and courier cut-offs in the same week you set the price. Late January is where the writing stops and the buying starts, so have anything that needs to be found up and settled by the last week of the month. From 8 February two campaigns run side by side on different clocks, which a general festive plan misses. The routine creative sells to the person fasting and earns its month by still being watchable on day twenty. The hamper campaign sells to somebody who will never take the product, weeks before the recipient opens it, so it needs its own audience, creative and cut-off date rather than a slot inside the other one. Keep the two budgets separate, or the hamper quietly eats the routine. The last week changes the routine customer's problem rather than the offer. They are about to travel, and a daily product is the first thing left on a kitchen counter. Say that out loud: the sachet that goes in the bag, the pack that survives a five-hour drive. On 10 and 11 March, spend on a greeting rather than an offer, and staff the replies it brings in. The season leaves two lists behind, and both are worth writing before it starts. The customers who began a routine in February are thirty days in on 11 March, and the reason they bought has just expired, so they need a different one. The hamper recipients are ten days in and have never seen a single ad, so the first message they get from you is the insert in the box. Frequently asked questions
When is Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2027, and when should supplement ads go live?
Aidilfitri 2027 is published for Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 March, and Awal Ramadan 1448 for Monday 8 February 2027, which is a public holiday in Johor and Kedah (PublicHolidays.com.my, 2027). Both are confirmed by moon-sighting, so treat them as published rather than fixed. Have content indexed by late January 2027, put the routine creative live at the start of the fasting month, run the hamper pre-order from mid-February with a delivery cut-off named in the ad, and switch to a last-delivery message in the first week of March. Keep the final two days for a greeting rather than an offer.
Should a supplement campaign peak during Ramadan or at Raya?
During Ramadan, for two reasons. The reason a shopper buys is the fasting month itself, a changed eating routine repeated for about thirty days, and that reason expires when the fasting stops. The gift box has its own clock: it must be ordered, packed and delivered while the recipient is still at home, which puts the hamper decision in February and early March. By the morning of 10 March 2027 the shopping is done and a large part of the audience is travelling. Weight the budget across the month, taper into the last delivery dates, and spend the holiday itself on a thank-you rather than a discount.
What can a Malaysian supplement ad actually say about fasting?
Separate facts about the practice from claims about the body. The eating window is a fact: sahur before dawn, iftar at sunset, everything in between. Anything physiological needs a source and has to stay inside your registered claim set. Hydration is the most quotable ground, since the Ministry of Health recommends six to eight glasses of plain water a day for the general population (Frontiers in Public Health, 2024), and that intake now has to fit between iftar and sahur. What you cannot promise is a lasting body change: a meta-analysis of 70 publications and 2,947 participants found weight and body composition back near pre-Ramadan levels within 2 to 5 weeks of the month ending (Nutrients, 2019).
Can a slimming supplement be advertised during Ramadan?
It can be sold, but not as a promise about the month. Weight and fat mass fall for many people while they fast, with no product involved, and a meta-analysis of 70 publications covering 2,947 participants found both back at or close to their pre-Ramadan levels within 2 to 5 weeks of the month ending (Nutrients, 2019). A before-and-after taken inside the window therefore credits your product with something the fast may have done, and the customer watches it undo itself by April. It is also the segment where wording is most exposed, because a registered health supplement's claims have to stay on health maintenance rather than treatment. Sell the routine and the habit that outlasts the month, keep the numbers off the creative, and put anything borderline in front of your regulatory adviser before the shoot rather than after it.
What should go into a Raya supplement hamper?
Registered products only, with the MAL number visible on each pack inside the box rather than on the wrapping, because assembling a basket does not register anything. Then choose between a gesture and a course. Three sachets of six different things photograph well and run out on day four; one product at a full month's duration, dressed with smaller items, is something the recipient can actually use. Write the insert for whoever opens it: dosing instructions and the leaflet in the language they read, plus a line telling them to check with a doctor or pharmacist before starting anything new while fasting.
When is the delivery cut-off for Raya hampers, and how should the ad handle it?
Work backwards from when people leave. The cities empty in the days before 10 March 2027, so the useful cut-off is the last date a box lands while somebody is still home to receive it, with Sabah and Sarawak needing a longer lead than the peninsula. Publish that date on the creative instead of burying it at checkout, and state the East Malaysia timeline separately. Ask for the recipient's phone number as well as the address, since a courier with no contact is how a hamper comes back. If the box holds a bird's nest or collagen drink, check how it travels in March heat before you promise a date.
Does Chinese New Year 2027 collide with the start of Ramadan?
They sit next to each other rather than on top of each other. Chinese New Year 2027 falls on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 February, and because the second day lands on a Sunday, Monday 8 February is taken nationally as a holiday in lieu. Kedah is the exception: there the same Monday is Awal Ramadan, which Johor observes as well (PublicHolidays.com.my, 2027). So the Chinese gift window closes as the fasting month opens, and a brand selling into both communities has no gap in which to shoot or clear creative. Produce both sets together in December and January, keep the media plans separate, and the handover becomes a scheduling change instead of a scramble.
Are the supplement ads shown on this page running for Raya right now?
No, and none of them is a Ramadan or Raya ad at all. That is the finding rather than a gap: the 21 Malaysian supplement creatives collected for this category are year-round advertising (AdPlay.ai archive, 2026), so what carries into the season is product form and the shape of the proof, never the occasion. Nothing here reports what is live this morning either, and how long an ad has been visible in a public archive is an artefact of when it was collected rather than evidence that it performed. For a specific brand's current ads, the free Meta Ad Library lists them by page.
